Full STEAM Ahead

The Colorado Springs School has been delivering seminars and engaging educational workshops to children for over 50 years. Full STEAM Ahead is an intensive, two-week program serving public Middle School student scholars. Made possible through a partnership with Peak Education, the program delivers a robust Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) curriculum to rising 6th–8th grader students hand-selected by Peak Education.

Program Delivery

The Full Steam Ahead program takes place on the campus of The Colorado Springs School.

Hands-on Learning
Students explore how technology has improved the human experience. From dissecting sheep's brains to programming robots, students gain immersion in topics and studies not typically afforded to students during a regular school year.

Teachers & Mentors
Master teachers and high school mentors deliver the program while also coordinating thematic and relevant field trips locally.

Beyond the Classroom
Students gain exposure to outdoor adventures, museums, and college resources throughout the Pikes Peak Region via a series of integrated field trips and speakers.

Students also choose electives to explore new interests and hobbies, like photography, flying machines, cooking, crafts, painting, games and sports.

The Curriculum

Brain Matters
Through both anatomical and psychological investigations, students gain knowledge about keeping the brain healthy and improving their cognitive skills.

Innovation & Discovery
This course moves beyond self-discovery and exploration, allowing students to see how individuals fit into the world around them through technology, creative writing, research and programming.

Design & Deliver
Students focus on creative problem-solving, teamwork, and thinking outside of the box through exercises in design thinking, public speaking and entrepreneurship.

“Innovation Class taught me how to solve an issue and to listen to others’ thoughts and ideas while inventing something great.”
