Applying to CSS

The School seeks students and families with diverse backgrounds, talents and interests. Criterion for admission includes:

  • Student interest and character
  • Academic aptitude and achievement
  • Recommendations
  • Interview & Assessment

The School-family-student match is an essential part of the decision-making process. In addition to evaluating individual merit and the appropriateness of a CSS education for each student, the composition of each class and what a student will bring to that dynamic is also considered.

Step 1

Submit an official inquiry to The Colorado Springs School.

Step 2

Attend an upcoming Admissions event.

Step 3

Beginning in mid-October, complete and submit an Online Application for The Colorado Springs School, including the $100 non-refundable application fee. The CSS admission application deadline for priority consideration is January 15. Receipt of all other applications is preferred prior to February 15. Applications submitted after February 15 will be processed as space becomes available.

Preschool applicants must be toilet independent to enroll. Kindergarten applicants must be age five by September 15 of the school year to which they've applied. International students, visit our International Student Homestay webpage for more information and to review the application process.

Note: As part of the application process, you must request the following recommendations based on your child's grade level.

  • Preschool and Kindergarten: Parent and Teacher Questionnaire
  • Grades 1-6: Teacher and Principal/Counselor Recommendation Form
  • Grades 7-11: Math Teacher, English Teacher, and Principal/Counselor Recommendation Form

These questionnaires and forms will be emailed automatically to each requisite party upon application submission.

Step 4

If so desired, create an account and complete the Indexed Tuition Application beginning in mid-October. Applications submitted by January 15 will receive priority consideration. All other applications submitted prior to February 15 will be accepted and awarded based on the availability of funds at that time. In order to apply for Indexed Tuition, an admission application must be fully completed.

Step 5

Ask your current school to submit your official transcript and test scores for the current and past two school years (as applicable) to Students must also submit an IEP, 504, ALP or other learning support documents, if applicable.

Step 6

Visit campus. Schedule your tour, interview and assessment.

Step 7

An admission decision is made! Decision letters and Indexed Tuition award letters will be sent on February 1 for all applicants who have submitted an application by the January 15 priority deadline. Decisions for applications submitted by the February 15 preferred admissions deadline will be sent on March 1.

Upon acceptance, completing the online enrollment contract and submitting your child's tuition deposit will guarantee a place for your child in their respective grade level.
