Applying to CSS

“There is no one type of CSS student, as the school seeks students and families with diverse backgrounds, talents and interests.”

The purpose of the admissions process is to ensure that our student population reflects the school philosophy as broadly as possible. There is no one type of CSS student, as the school seeks students and families with diverse backgrounds, talents and interests. The school/family/student match is an essential part of the decision-making process.

Criterion for admission includes:

  • Student interest and character
  • Academic aptitude and achievement
  • Recommendations
  • Interview.

In addition to evaluating individual merit and the appropriateness of a CSS education for each student, the composition of each class and what a student will bring to that dynamic is also considered.

Step 1

Visit campus by scheduling a tour.

Step 2

Complete and submit an online application, including the $100 non-refundable application fee. February 1 is the deadline for priority consideration. Applications submitted after February 1 will be processed, as space is available.

Note: Preschool applicants must be age three by August 22 and be toilet independent to enroll. Kindergarten applicants must be age five by September 15 of the school year to which they've applied.

International students, visit our International Student Homestay webpage for more information and to view the application process.

Step 3

Ask your current school to submit your official transcript and test scores for the current and past two school years (as applicable) to admission@css.org. Students must also submit an IEP, 504, ALP or other learning support documents, if applicable.

Step 4

Ask your current teacher(s) and principal/counselor to submit the required recommendations:

Preschool and Kindergarten: Parent and Teacher Questionnaire
Grades 1-6: Teacher and Principal/Counselor Recommendation Form
Grades 7-11: Math Teacher, English Teacher, and Principal/Counselor Recommendation Form

These questionnaires and forms will be emailed separately to each requisite party.

Step 5

Once a completed application, including all required supplemental documents, has been received and reviewed, the CSS Admission office will arrange a class visit, interview and assessment for qualified applicants.

Step 6

An admission decision is made.

Acceptance letters are sent in March for applicants who submitted their student application by February 1. Applications submitted after February 1 are welcomed and will be processed in a timely manner. Families will be promptly notified of the admission decision.

Accepted students will receive an Offer of Admission, accompanied by instructions for enrollment in our online system. Completing the online enrollment contract and submitting your child's tuition deposit by the stated deadline guarantees a place for your child in his/her grade level.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Admission Office by phone at (719) 434-3500 or by email admission@css.org with questions regarding the application process.
