FAQs: COVID-19 Campus Mitigation Protocols (2021-2022)
The below guidelines will begin effective August 18, 2022
*All guidelines & protocols herein are subject to change
Masks will be optional for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The CSS community will support those who choose to protect themselves by wearing KN95 and/or surgical masks. Each parent has the autonomy to personally require that their child wear a mask at all times throughout the school day. Regardless of a family’s preference, all will be treated with respect as committed to in the CSS Community Pledge. Overall, we reserve the right to assess and request that a mask be worn when the community incidence of COVID (internally and externally) is high and shows a rising trend of transmission.
* In cases of experiential, off-campus travel, proof of COVID-19 vaccination and pre-quarantining may be requested and/or required.
Each parent has the autonomy to personally require that their child wear a mask at all times throughout the school day.
The CSS community will continue to layer the following mitigation measures as best practice for preventing the spread of any infection on our campus:
The criteria and procedural steps for isolating and quarantining are outlined in the following communications provided by the CDPHE.
Notify CSS Health Coordinator Dr. Melissa Hocate immediately for guidance and CSS policy.
Long-term (15-minutes or more) campus visitors are permitted within buildings. Any visitor who will be in any CSS building for a duration of 15-minutes or more must sign in and sign out in the Trianon Front Office (RAPTOR). Masks are optional, however, may be needed in circumstances with increased exposure among students.
Vaccination for COVID-19 is now available for individuals above the age of six months. Although vaccination is not required, we do encourage vaccination and boosters to prevent the spread of COVID and severe outcomes from COVID-19.
Vaccination status is being recorded by Infirmary Coordinator Ann Runte. To voluntarily share your child’s COVID-19 vaccination status with the school, please submit an updated Colorado Certificate of Immunization form via the FACTS Family Portal.
The school may release outbreak notifications if several cases of COVID have been detected. The exposure notification will advise those exposed to monitor for symptoms and test if symptoms arise and quarantine policy.
Parents can help CSS preserve in-person learning and assist the school community in remaining healthy by doing the following:
Talk with your child(ren) regarding the importance of doing their part to adhere to mitigation protocols, and to have empathy and respect for those with different viewpoints. See the Community Pledge.
Keep your child(ren) home if they are ill.
Voluntarily share your child(ren)’s vaccination and health history with the Infirmary Coordinator via the Colorado Certificate of Immunization form.
Provide a firm example of your support for CSS's mitigation protocols.
Students should adhere to all State and federal guidelines.
For international students, vaccinations are available in the United States. Please consult with CSS Health Coordinator Dr. Melissa Hocate for information on vaccine availability and locations.
Students who are ill or in quarantine should contact their classroom teacher(s) and their respective Division Director to keep up with schoolwork or adjust assignments. All CSS students will be issued css.org Google email accounts and all grade levels will use Google Classrooms to establish a consistent mechanism for delivering class content and streamlining the system for turning in assignments. The Google Suite for Education will allow for an easier transition to eLearning and will enable students to keep up with their classwork.
Lunch will be served in the Maytag Dining Hall. Outdoor dining options will be made available and are encouraged, weather permitting.
Masks are no longer be required for sporting events. CSS will continue to work in partnership with CHSSA and El Paso County Public Health officials.
Please refer to the online calendar, and to your division’s respective academic pages, for updates and important information on all things CSS. Happenings and updates will also be shared monthly in the School’s ROAR e-newsletter, weekly in the Kodiak Bulletin, and in individualized monthly letters from the Head of School and respective Division Directors. Student record and billing information can be accessed via the FACTS Family Portal. ParentAlert text messages and email notifications will also be distributed through FACTS in case of emergencies or school closures.
Through the stated Community Pledge, we acknowledge social responsibility to one another to stand together as one. This is not a waiver or legal document, but rather a commitment of each CSS family to prioritize the health and safety of students, teachers, and families of our broader community.
In order to maintain full enrollment status, students must attend school. Unexcused absences in excess of 10 days will result in loss of enrollment. Dual enrollment is not permitted.
