Dessert Theatre Season Wraps Up in Lower School

That's a wrap! Kindergarten and 1st-grade students wrapped up this season of the Lower School's Dessert Theatre with performances on Thursday, March 16, 2023, in the Louisa Performing Arts Center. Dessert Theatre, which began nearly 50 years ago at CSS, allows students as early as Kindergarten in the Lower School division the freedom to explore the world through characters while solving problems and growing their communication skills and confidence.

In The Alphabet Tree, adapted from Leo Lionni's book of the same name, Kindergartners wondered if the tree loves letters. Does it grow them? No, turns out letters love to climb this tree and jump around on the highest branches! When strong gale winds disturb the letters' fun in the tree, they utilize the help of two curious bugs that love words and sentences.

In Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ear, 1st graders learned there is a very specific question they are asking and it's all because of a fib the characters told a long time ago and the unfortunate events that occurred because of it. This Aesop tale reminds us that even the smallest lie can have some enormous consequences.
