On May 21, 2025, eighth-grade students and their families enjoyed a picnic on the Carriage House lawn before gathering in the Louisa Performing Arts Center for The Colorado Springs School’s 48th Annual Eighth Grade Continuation Ceremony, celebrating the Class of 2029 alongside faculty and staff.
"Over the course of the last three years, you've met many challenges and have succeeded beyond our hopes," Erin Cerezo, Lower and Middle School Director, said during the ceremony.
"You have also learned some things that are hard to measure but are equally important. You've learned some of the behaviors that make and keep friends. You’ve learned how to work with partners and surmount obstacles. You’ve learned about who you want to be and how you need to act to be that person every day. We are proud of you."
Eighth-grade choir members Noah H., Sachi K., Elena M., and Emilia T. performed "Rewrite the Stars" from The Greatest Showman.
Head of School Dr. Ryan Kelly presented Longevity Awards to Alexa B., Noah H., Kristen L., Bailey L., and Ethan M. for attending CSS continuously since Kindergarten or earlier.
Faculty members offered heartfelt introductions for each student, followed by reflections from the students on their Middle School experiences.
Coltin B. ’26, Upper School Forum President-Elect, welcomed the Class of 2029 and shared tips for success—stay organized, get involved, talk to your teachers, be “chalant,” be yourself, find your people, and manage your time.
"You're ready for this," Coltin said. "Just remember—even high schoolers still Google 'how to do MLA format.' Good luck!"
Dr. Kelly closed the ceremony by reminding students that while balancing academics and life can be challenging, Upper School offers countless opportunities for growth and leadership.
"Be inquisitive. Go the extra mile. Set a positive example; never be afraid to exhibit help or compassion toward others," Dr. Kelly said. "Get to know your faculty and peers; they care and are dedicated to helping you reach new heights. Discover who and what you’d like to become and shoot for the stars; the sky's the limit in the Upper School at CSS, and I can’t wait to see how you make the most of the next four years!"
Congratulations to the Class of 2029: Alexa B., Matias B., Sterling C., Louis C., Halle E., Cameron E., Noah H., Sachi K., Kristen L., Bailey L., Niya M., Elena M., Carter M., Ethan M., Ella M., Lucas O., Mason R., Emilia T., and Malcolm Z.
