On May 19, 2025, the CSS community—including current and former students, parents, staff, and faculty—came together in the Trianon to celebrate Ms. Amy Miller, a longtime English teacher at The Colorado Springs School, who is retiring this month after 32 years of dedicated service. Guests shared memories and even sang a tailor-made song for her.
Ms. Miller, formerly known as Ms. Johnson-Smith and Ms. J-S, reflected on the many life milestones she experienced during her time at CSS, including the birth of her children, the loss of loved ones, and the chapters of both divorce and marriage.
"But CSS was always here," Ms. Miller said. "I always knew that I could come to CSS, and it was a respite when I needed it most, and CSS was a celebration when I needed that most."
Ms. Miller said she met "the most remarkable, wonderful people" at CSS—from the students she taught this year, to those she's taught in the past, to those she'll never have the chance to teach—and everyone in between, including parents.
"It means so, so much to me to see your beautiful faces," said Ms. Miller, who is also the Senior Capstone Experience Director, National Honor Society Faculty Sponsor, and Senior Class Sponsor. "It has been a wild, wonderful ride that I will cherish always. Thank you for getting me through some very formative, tumultuous, and wonderful 32 years."
Thank you, Ms. Miller, for 32 years of incredible dedication, wisdom, and heart. You’ve been a constant source of inspiration, strength, and kindness in the CSS community. Your impact—as a teacher, mentor, and friend—will be felt for years to come.
