Job Description:
The Colorado Springs School (CSS) is a college preparatory, day, and international school serving students from preschool through high school. The School is experiencing growth and demand among families with a specific interest in its Young Explorers after-school program. As a result, the School is currently seeking an experienced early childhood educator or childcare provider who is ready to provide daily supervision of students ages 3 through 12.
The individual selected for this role will report directly to the Director of the Children’s School and will fulfill all duties that will include, but are not limited to:
Roles & Responsibilities:
Maintain and support a positive, mission-appropriate climate suitable for ages 3 to 12
Provide direct supervision on the playground to ensure the safety of all students
Adhere to all policies and procedures mandated by the Colorado Department of Human Services, Health Department, and CSS
Apply basic tenets of RULER (social-emotional awareness) and other CSS-approved methodologies in the supervision of children. This may require attending some professional development opportunities in the opening week of school and throughout the school year.
Plan age-appropriate and engaging activities for Young Explorers participants
Provide daily homework supervision
Accurately track student pick-up and departure from Young Explorers, including knowledge of all adults approved for pick-up as required by the state.
Supports monthly billing by the Young Explorers Coordinator through daily accounting/tracking of student hours in Young Explorers.
Help clean and close Young Explorers spaces at the end of the shift
Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or related field from an accredited college or university
2+ years working in an educational/early childhood/extended care setting with students ages 3-12 y.o.
Possesses and is willing to maintain Standard Precautions, First Aid, CPR, TB test and Physical, 15 hours of Professional Development, and any other requirements dictated by our daycare license
Able to commit to a daily schedule: 3:00 to 5:30 PM (school days, Monday - Friday).
Team player willing to work collaboratively with families and colleagues
Attentive to details/conditions as they pertain to student whereabouts and safety
Enjoy building relationships with students and their families
Provide a warm environment and possess an innate desire to nurture PreK full-day students during the afternoon
Salary:
This position is hourly at $20/hour and up to 29 hours a week. This position is part-time.
