Early Childhood Director / PreK Teacher

The Early Childhood Division Director/PreK teacher reports directly to the Head of School. The Early Childhood Division Director/PreK teacher is responsible for teaching one class and overseeing PreK 1 and PreK 2. They will work closely with all constituents of early childhood programming including students, faculty, parents, administration, and the broader community. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of academic, social, and emotional early childhood development students.. They must be highly organized, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, understand current education pedagogy, and be adept at working with all stakeholders within the school community. Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential. The Early Childhood Division Director/PreK teacher is responsible for oversight of day-to-day operations of the Early Childhood Division and demonstrates a commitment to the school’s mission, vision, and values.

The position’s preferred qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in elementary education or a closely related field. A graduate degree and a track record of successful teaching children ages three to five are preferred

- Firm understanding of academic, social, and emotional development

- Innovative mindset with strong skills in communication, collaboration, project-based learning, and technology

- Teachers working in the PreK program must be certified in Early Childhood Education and will have completed an approved teacher preparation program.

- Ability to create a vibrant and positive learning environment

The knowledge, skill, and abilities required for the Early Childhood Director/PreK Teacher position:

PreK teachers will need to create a positive and vibrant learning environment for students. The preferred candidate will have a strong desire to see their craft improve and evolve. The ideal candidate will possess a growth mindset and share their expertise openly with others.

The Early Childhood Director/PreK teacher candidate will:

  • Share developmentally appropriate practice in child development with families.

  • Know the developmental and academic abilities of one’s students.

  • Effectively coordinate with co-curricular teachers.

  • Perform various student supervisory duties.

  • Adhere to the standards described in the Employee Handbook.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.

  • Work to maintain the program license.

  • Supervise lead teachers, assistants, and extended care employees.

  • Manage the Extended Care program for students grades PreK through 5th.

  • Have a strong understanding of how to manage Google Suite.


SALARY RANGE:

$40,000 - $48,000 annually based upon skills and experience. Excellent benefits, including tuition remission.
