Dear CSS Families,
As our end-of-year celebrations have drawn to a close, we have turned our attention to planning for August. The Colorado Springs School Leadership Team, with input from our incoming head of school, Ms. Tambi Tyler, and me, have reflected upon our e-Learning platforms and we are planning the best way to deliver our mission and maximize safety in light of the COVID-19 public health crisis and emerging guidelines from local and national health authorities.

Dear CSS Community,
The past few months have been challenging for all of us and we want to continue to show care. It is important that we continue messages of solidarity, love, and acceptance, during this time of upheaval.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Let us realize the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”
For nearly 60 years, The Colorado Springs School has prepared students to meet the challenges of a dynamic world with...

“Is there anyone that does not need to navigate uncertainty and risk on a regular basis? To be alive is to be vulnerable; to be a leader is to be vulnerable every minute of the day. You don’t get to opt out!” -Brené Brown, Daring Leadership
Dear CSS Community,

Dear CSS Families,Thank you for celebrating the Head’s Holiday last Friday. We hope you and your students enjoyed the day off from academics. With a wave and honk parade on campus, we celebrated a brief return to some semblance of community, and homemade chocolate chip cookies were the perfect antidote for the stress and isolation many of us have felt in recent weeks. The procession of cars, heartfelt signs, and senior tributes - all at a safe distance - were a...

On Saturday, April 25, 2020, a hand-signed letter and a box of cookies was delivered to the home of each senior in the Class of 2020. Previously, a “congratulatory / we miss you” yard sign was placed at the homes of our seniors throughout 12 zip codes across region.
Dear Seniors,
You were primed for academic and personal bests, to captain your sports teams, lead clubs, act, dance, and entertain in “Fiddler on the Roof,” and perform in your final...

Dear CSS Families,
Please join me in thanking our donors and volunteers for a highly successful e-Gala & Auction on Saturday night. It was a great pleasure to see so many smiling faces and celebrate the mission and strength of this fine school. Click here for a recap of the e-Gala program and DJ Dumplin’s dance party set.

Dear CSS Community,
The silhouettes of Cheyenne Mountain and Pikes Peak and the budding trees and grass in town are a stark juxtaposition to the local, national, and international news stories I read too frequently. For many of us, this time of transition and uncertainty offers personal insights and moments of deep connection to family, in addition to isolation, financial concerns, and professional challenges unimaginable a few weeks ago.
In this challenging time, the...

Dear CSS Community,
I’ve been tremendously impressed with the strength and positivity of the CSS community during the last few weeks. Long before COVID-19, historian Howard Zinn wrote, “We don’t have to wait for some grand utopian future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory.” Every day, I see, online and in-person...

Dear CSS Community,
As many of you know, yesterday Colorado Governor Jared Polis ordered all public and private schools across the state to suspend in-person learning from March 23 through April 17 to help mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Colorado.
We are well-prepared for this eventuality having spent the last two weeks (and two full on-campus professional development days) preparing our e-Learning policies and content. We will begin e-Learning on Tuesday...

Dear CSS Families and Alumni,
Last month, we began the start of school with the State of the School presentation, and I welcomed new and returning families to the opening of our 57th school year. The screencast shared below is a recap of that presentation which proudly speaks about the school’s history, enrollment growth, school-wide goals. Please watch (and share) the State of the School presentation.
As has always been the case, The Colorado Springs School...
