Summer Camps

The Colorado Springs School has been providing summer camp experiences for more than 30 years. All programs are open to the public, and we encourage CSS families to take advantage of these experiential education programs. This past year, camps included a wide variety of STEM activities and athletics.

If you are new to campus, please use this campus map to find the specific building location of your chosen camp.

Rocky Mountain Soccer Camp

The Rocky Mountain Soccer Camp (RMSC) is the longest running soccer camp in the nation, started in 1971 by Artie Wachter. Various camp programs include Mini-Camps, Day Camps, Team Camps and Live-in Camps. Current Camp Director Mark Perdew has been running the RMSC since 1992 and is now the head girls soccer coach at CSS. The RMSC experience goes far beyond the soccer field.  We use the camp as a vehicle for teaching valuable “life lessons” such as integrity, sportsmanship, discipline and responsibility, while at the same time providing a high level of soccer training and education.
Our goal is to provide a fun, safe and creative environment that promotes the integrity of the game of soccer and is both educational and challenging.  Our staff uses innovative methods to teach the game in a way that allows for enjoyment, easy understanding and quick improvement.

The children create a main character, which can be anything their imagination can think of. Other characters, or enemies, pursue the main character who dodges their attacks. The character will score points for picking up objects and destroying the enemy objects. Options are endless and children create level after level for a full week of fun. As with all of our game creation options, this camp encourages creativity, storytelling, programming, and problem solving for their young minds. This is a half day camp. Worlds can have mountains, valleys, lakes, hills, etc. or they can be a design unlike anything you have ever seen before. Next, they place characters into the world and program them to move about, interacting with other characters, even talking using scripts written for them. They can program characters to pick up objects, engage opponents, and overcome villains. Children will use their creativity as they build a world full of racing tasks. Whether it is collecting enough diamonds before time expires, navigating through the challenging obstacle course, or racing against a friend, they are sure to have fun! As with all of our game creation options, this camp encourages creativity, storytelling, programming, and problem solving for their young minds. This is a half day camp. Students can add an additional program to make it a full day camp. Please see session and pricing table below. Please visit www.activelearningcamps.com for program details and registration.
