Alumni Plaza

Vision

The vision of the Alumni Plaza is to strengthen the key role of the Quad as a primary gathering, pedestrian and recreational space for many students.
The master campus plan aims to update the pedestrian network; improve appearance, and create more gathering places for classes and groups to meet outdoors. Our goal is to create the Alumni Plaza outside Maytag Dining Hall to serve as an outdoor classroom and meeting space.  This space  symbolizes the central importance of alumni in the life of the school.

Project Process

• Alumni Committee had preliminary discussions about establishing a space on campus dedicated to Alumni.
• Landscape architect hired to discuss project locations and to further develop the vision of the Alumni Committee.
• Buildings & Grounds Committee of the Board determined the need for an updated campus master plan to align with goals of the strategic plan.
• Campus Master Plan study completed and approved by the Board of Trustees. Decision made to integrate the alumni space with pending renovations of Maytag Dining Hall, locate the now-named "Alumni Plaza" in front of Maytag as counter-balance to the Trianon.
• Landscape architect developed several drawings for review by Buildings & Grounds, and Alumni Committees.
• Concept drawings presented at REUNION Weekend.
• Drawings will be finalized and Construction bids will be compiled.
• Fundraising for the Alumni Plaza will begin.
• Upon reaching fundraising goals construction will start.
• Following construction of the Alumni Plaza, a celebratory dedication will be planned.
