Extracurricular Activities for Middle School Students

A variety of clubs, sports, theater, outdoor education, and other extra-curricular activities offer each student numerous opportunities to explore a variety of interests, to further develop talents, and to work together toward common goals.

Athletics

Competitive Athletics is an integral component of our physical education program. At CSS, girls and boys have many opportunities to participate in team sports, and any student who wishes to participate may do so. In Middle and Upper School, athletic teams compete against teams in the Pikes Peak region and along Colorado's Front Range. Our offerings include soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross-country, Upper School tennis, lacrosse, and Upper School golf. To learn more about CSS Athletics click here.

Clubs

Middle School students are encouraged to explore new interests by participating in a variety of clubs offered during the school day. While the club offering varies from semester to semester, students choose from a wide range of activities. Past clubs have included fly fishing, grammar, bicycle repair, climbing, Gaelic football, cooking, and mythology.

Fall and Spring Plays

Our dynamic Upper School Theater Department prides itself in the variety of shows that are produced. From Shakespeare to musicals, avant-garde to traditional, the Upper School puts on at least two major productions per year. Middle School students are often able to join the cast in supporting roles.

Yearbook

Our Middle School students employ traditional and digital photographic techniques to create the Middle School section of Et Apres, our 200+ page CSS yearbook. Students learn to use professional graphics software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and PageMaker.

Student Government

Student government has a 12-member senate and four-member executive committee elected by students to serve for one school year. Activities stress social and service efforts in the school and community.
