Inspired Learning. Masterful Teaching. PreK – 12.

Integrated Technology & Computer Science

At CSS, we utilize developmentally-appropriate technology to deepen student engagement and create a deeper connection with the content. A dedicated staff member works to train and excite faculty to advance lessons through 21st-century learning tools. Additionally, you will find students working on computational thinking and logic. They progress in their Computer Science skills with programming kits, Lego Mindstorm Robotics, Modular Robotics Cubelets, and multimedia with video recording and editing. The school also utilizes an iPad lab, a Dell computer lab, Chromebooks, and a wide variety of programs for students to explore new ways of showcasing their work.

A BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) program in the Upper School further deepens student access to technology resources and platforms. The school uses Google resources, including Google Classroom, as a classroom management tool. Teachers often share instructions and skills-based lessons through Flipped Classroom videos, which can be stored and accessed throughout the course.

By cultivating relationships with alumni, higher education, corporations, medical professionals, the space industry, and local entrepreneurs, CSS students regularly interact with STEM professionals and real-world problem solvers. At CSS we move beyond STEM education of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics as fundamental building blocks and adopt the STEaM mentality, which includes the Arts, as we fully embrace art and design principals as well.

In teaching 21st-century learners and digital natives, the school is also assessing how a traditional library represents a progressive hub of dynamic learning and not only a repository of books. The Tech Team and faculty work collectively to be at the forefront of this educational trend.
