Carline for Everyone

A safe return to campus is a shared goal that will certainly require extra effort on the part of everyone. As we have been readying campus for students, one major recommendation relates to the ingress and egress of students and our new “Carline for Everyone” plan. The beginning and the end of our school days are often a highly social time, but this year will need to be much more systematic in order to verify Daily Health Screenings and temperature checks. We also need to thoughtfully avoid groups of non-cohorted students and families from congregating.

Carline drop-off times for all divisions:

Monday-Tuesday from 7:45 to 8:05 a.m.

Wednesday from 8:45 to 9:05 a.m. (school starts an hour later on Wednesdays)

Thursday-Friday from 7:45 to 8:05 a.m.

Carline pick-up times for all divisions:

Monday-Friday from 3:15 to 3:30 p.m.

This new protocol will inevitably cause some delays in our typical drop-off and pick-up flow, but with patience, a conscientious approach, and dedicated parent volunteers, we can achieve our plan. Please consider making the committment to volunteer for carline.

Carline for Everyone Procedures

All parents will drop-off and pick-up students to campus via a carline model with designated drop-off and pick-up locations. We ask that you do not park on side streets or congregate in parking lots to walk your student(s) into academic buildings. Carline parent and staff volunteers (visually identified in green vests) will verify that the Daily Health Screening has been completed prior to the arrival to campus and take temperatures as students exit the car.

  • If a parent/driver did not complete the Daily Health Screening, students will be kept in the vehicle. The parent/driver may pull into the Kodiak Care Parking Lot (Children’s School Parking Lot or spaces near Louisa Performing Arts Center) to complete the required form(s) and then return to the start of the carline.
  • If a child registers a temperature of 100.4 or higher, the parent/driver can not drop off the child at school.
  • If a student has symptoms that cause them to be excluded from school, you will be notified. These symptom lists will be monitored by Dr. Melissa Hocate, our on-campus Health Coordinator.

Persons who do not arrive via carline must check-in with a designated volunteer prior to arrival in class.

  • Faculty/staff students arriving at campus with an employee.
  • Neighborhood walkers. For the safety of all walkers, we ask that you use campus crosswalks and sidewalks to avoid potential dangers of walking in-between carline traffic.
  • Bicycle riders. For the safety of all bicycle riders, we ask that you dismount your bike and walk your bicycle on campus sidewalks to avoid potential dangers of riding in between carline traffic. A designated bicycle rack is located near the Children’s Academic Center and on the southside of the Trianon.
  • Students who drive themselves to campus.

Bus Procedures

  • All parents dropping a student at a bus stop must check-in with a Parent volunteer/driver to verify that the Daily Health Screening has been completed and have the student’s temperature taken prior to getting on the bus.
  • Students must sit in assigned seats.
  • Upon arrival to campus, student(s) enter through designated doors.
